Worth visiting

Among the places well worth visiting are the dramatic gorges of Kourtaliotis and Kotsyfos, the historic Preveli monastery and the wonderful beaches of Ammoudi, Schinaria, Damnoni, Plakias, Souda and Limni Preveli with the palm-tree forest beach at the estuary of Kourtaliotis river.

Rethymno, apart from archaeological, paleontological and folklore museums, the massive venetian castle and the picturesque old harbor, boasts the best preserved old town quarter in Crete. A walk through the maze of narrow streets or a dinner at the venetian harbor offer an unforgettable experience.
